Colección 2013 Glamdustrial de Adam Ciaccia para Axis Hairdressing

‘Glamdustrial’ is a blend of glamour and industrial elements that together fuse into the color, line and texture of the hair and fashion in this collection.

The haircuts in the collection are a combination of solid form and graduation.

The softer looks are cut similarly, but with the use of gentle slicing to release curl and where needed, to soften hairlines and fringes.

Colour is strong and shiny with gentle low and highlights used to add texture and depth.

The collection was inspired by a 19th Century Powerhouse that once supplied Canberra’s power and is now home to some of the greatest glass artists in the world. The building has become the Canberra Glassworks, and is now wholly dedicated to contemporary glass art.

The building, located next to Lake Burley Griffin in Kingston, ACT, was constructed between 1913 and 1915 in 'Federal Capital' style, and is a modern interpretation of classical architecture where the ornamentation has been stripped back to plain geometrical forms.

The idea of the raw power of the building’s original industrial purpose (to power a new and growing city) juxtaposed with the sleek beauty of its new life (to provide artists with a space where objects of incredible beauty are created) made it the perfect inspiration for my collection.

The hair in the collection has a strong geometric direction that incorporates a range of hard and soft, square and curved lines to create modern glamorous shapes that are beautiful, flattering, distinctive and wearable.

The haircuts all draw attention to the face, with fringes framing the eyes, lines enhancing face shapes and curls and waves adding movement and energy.

Colour was chosen to express a range of hues – coal black; mahogany; copper; fiery-red and white hot blond, all colors that represent the fire in the kiln where the glass is heated and blown.

Simply put, the colours are classic and uncomplicated, with an emphasis on burnished metallic-like finishes.

The fashion also reflects the ‘Glamdustrial’ theme with its dark charcoals and blacks giving a nod to the location’s history when coal was used to fire the boilers that converted water into the steam that powered the city.

The matte blacks and leather accents of the flowing fashion both contrast and compliment the vibrant colour, brilliant shine and strong geometry of the hair.

The makeup is clean, luxurious, soft and simple so that the beauty of the models, and the shapes and colours of the hair are the heroes of the day, allowing the woman herself to be the glamorous element in this collection.

My collection is uncomplicated and feminine, and showcases wearable hair that all women can love whether their look is high fashion or street.
